Artist Statement
Many of the concepts I make work from are based off of my natural fascination with humanity and the psychological aspects of our lives. Questions like, why do people treat others so badly when we all know we are essential the same, are something that has always fascinated me to the point where I strive to find the answer(s). Abuse, mistreatment and other such ideas are what I use as inspiration for some of my works.
I look for visuals that can best interpret what I want to be said. Then I combine these images to create a piece that reflects the concept I had chosen. Some of my works are inspired by imagery I see, whether it be a photograph or in the world. I become intrigued by the composition as well as the overall color scheme of what I observe and want to capture it in some artistic medium. I use a variety of mediums in my work. Watercolor or colored pencils are used to show a more fun side to a piece through the use of bright colors. Acrylics or colored pencils help to make a colored piece with a darker meaning have a darker color scheme. I use graphite, charcoal, ink or some mixture of these, to create all of my black and white pieces. For my more experimental works. I use sculpture and sometimes makeup to express myself in a different form. I will express how I view the world as I continue to learn and grow in the world. |
